The V-CHEK™ 2019-nCoV Ag Rapid Test Kit is an Immunochromatography sandwich assay, intended for the qualitative detection of the nucleocapsid protein antigen from 2019-nCoV in nasopharyngeal (NP) and nasal (NS) swab specimens.

This test is only for clinical laboratory use or for immediate inspection by medical personnel, not for home testing, and cannot be used as the basis for the diagnosis and exclusion of pneumonia caused by new coronavirus infection, and is not suitable for screening by the general population.

A positive test result needs further confirmation. A negative test result cannot rule out the possibility of infection.

The kit and test results are for clinical reference only. It is recommended to combine the patient’s clinical manifestations and other laboratory tests for a comprehensive analysis of the condition.

Since December 2019, a series of unexplained pneumonia cases have been reported in Wuhan, China. On 12 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) temporarily named this new virus, like the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019‐nCoV). The COVID‐19 epidemic is spreading all over the world. As a result, every sneeze or cough turned in to doubt in our minds. The hope of providing help for the prevention and control of the COVID‐19 epidemic.

The 2019-nCoV IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a qualitative membrane-based immunoassay for the detection of IgG and IgM antibodies to 2019-nCoV in whole blood, serum or plasma specimen.

This test consists of two components, an IgG and IgM component. In the IgG component, anti-human IgG is coated in IgG test line region, during testing the specimen reacts with 2019-nCoV antigen-coated particles in the test cassette. The mixture then migrates upward on the membrane chromatographically by capillary action and reacts with the anti-human IgG, if the specimen contains IgG antibodies to 2019-nCoV a colored line will appear in IgG test line region as a result of this.

Similarly, anti-human IgM is coated in IgM test line region and if the specimen contains IgM antibodies to 2019-nCoV, the conjugate-specimen complex reacts with anti-human IgM as a result, a colored line appears in IgM test line region.

Therefore, if the specimen contains 2019-nCoV, a colored line will appear in both of IgG and IgM antibodies test line region. If the specimen does not contain 2019-nCoV antibodies, no colored line will appear in either of the test line regions, indicating a negative result.

To serve as a procedural control, a colored line will always appear in the (C)control line region, indicating that the proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.

Reliability:
It is possible for this test to give a negative result that is incorrect (false negative). However, it is very unlikely. When the test is performed your healthcare provider will consider the test result together with all other aspects of your medical history.

The sensitivity for this test is 97,6% and the specificity is 100%. The most common cause for a false negative test would be from getting tested too early after exposure. We recommend that patients wait at least 24 hours after exposure or developing symptoms before getting tested. False positive results are extremely unlikely.

Limitations:
SARS-CoV-2 Ag Rapid test has been designed to act as a supplementary test for suspected cases of negative coronavirus nucleic acid detection or in conjunction with nucleic acid detection in the diagnosis of suspected cases. Results from nucleocapsid protein antigen testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection or to inform infection status.
